Alice Cooper Rolls Out ‘Paranormal‘ Summer Dates

Alice Cooper has just tagged on a 23-date summer leg to his Paranormal tour. Alice and the band play tonight (March 13th) at Moline, Illinois’ TaxSlayer Center. The summer leg kicks off on August 3rd in West Allis, Wisconsin at the Wisconsin State Fair and wraps just over a month later on September 7th in York, Pennsylvania at the York Fair. Over the course of the summer dates, Alice will play a seven-date Canadian run. Ace Frehley will serve as the opening act at the Las Vegas and L.A. shows.

The new leg finds Cooper touring behind his recently released 27th album, Paranormal, which features a two-track reunion with the original Alice Cooper Band Neal Smith, Dennis Dunaway, and Michael Bruce — along with contributions from U2‘s Larry Mullen, Jr., Deep Purple‘s Roger Glover, and ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons.

Alice Cooper told us that the days of blowing an audience’s mind with stage theatrics have really changed over the decades: “I don’t think you can shock an audience anymore, really. I mean, CNN’s more shocking than anything Marilyn Manson or I can do, because (laughs), they used to hang me onstage, now you see people really getting hung on TV. So the idea is just to bombard the audience with vaudeville-type of burlesque comedy — but make sure the music is the basis of everything. I mean, you can’t put icing on the cake without the cake. So a 10-hour rehearsal is nine hours on the music, and one hour on the theatrics.” SOUNDCUE
