Bon Jovi Announces Spring Arena Dates

Bon Jovi has just announced a 27-date spring run and an expanded version of their most recent chart-topper, This House Is Not For Sale. The band, who’ll be induced in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the midst of the upcoming trek, kicks things off on March 14th at Denver, Colorado’s Pepsi Center and — as of now — wraps things up on May 14th, at Washington, DC’s Capital One Arena. The new edition of This House Is Not For Sale will be released on February 23rd and features two new songs — “When We Were Us” and “Walls.” Each online ticket purchased will include a CD of the original edition of This House Is Not For Sale.

Jon Bon Jovi spoke about the new song “Walls,” telling Variety: “In light of this crazy world in which we live, it has taken me a year to process some of it and be able to write it into lyrics of ‘Walls,’ which reflects what is going on in the country.”

  • Bon Jovi explained that deciding on a setlist for a tour is hardly as easy as one might imagine: [“Yeah, it’s, it’s a little bit hard, because truthfully, a lot of folks that come to see us, they expect to hear all the hits and that’ll take up a lot of the show. But there needs to be room for the new record, which we’re playing a lot of these days — as well as the catalogue, and the album tracks from the catalogue. So, I’ve been thinking about songs like ‘Dry County,’ or ‘Right Side Of Wrong,’ and ‘Hey God,’ and ‘Joey,’ and ‘When We Were Beautiful,’ and ‘Love’s The Only Rule,’ and ‘Something To Believe In’ — I can go on forever. There’s a lot of songs from a lot of albums, and then there’s a lot of hits. Y’know, there’s only so much you can do in a night.”] SOUNDCUE (:34 OC: . . . in a night)
  • Apart from his work with Bon Jovi over the past 35 years, keyboardist David Bryan is best known for writing the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Memphis. Bryan reminded us that a shifting setlist has always been a component of Bon Jovi’s concert tours: [“We’ve always changed up the setlists. It’s not like one of my Broadway shows, where, y’know, it’s a very set thing. We always change it up, just for ourselves.”] SOUNDCUE (:07 OC: . . . just for ourselves)
