Brian Setzer Unveils 2018 ‘Rockabilly Riot’ Dates

Brian Setzer has announced 15 spring shows throughout June. The trek, dubbed “Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot!” after his critically acclaimed 2014 album, begins on June 1st at Santa Ynez, California at Chumash Casino and — as of now — wraps on June 24th in Lowell, Massachusetts at Lowell Summer Music Series Outdoors. More dates are expected to be announced.

Setzer has a single Stray Cats reunion dates on the books for April 21st in Las Vegas. Setzer — along with Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom — will play their first reunion gig in a decade at the “Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend” at the The Orleans Hotel & Casino. So far it’s the only Stray Cats show announced.

  • Brian Setzer says that although he’s been credited for pumping new life into the rockabilly, big band, and swing genres — that’s never been his intent: [“Y’know, I just do really what I like to do. I don’t really think about reviving musical styles. I love the sounds of music that come from the blues. I love jazz, I love country, swing, rock n’ roll, rockabilly. To me, it all comes from the blues, and my way of thinking is there’s no way you can’t take all these kinds of music and blend them together, which is kind of how I always thought. And I never consciously thought of blending them, it just sort of happens in my head and it comes out of my hands that way.”] SOUNDCUE (:27 OC: . . . hands that way)
