If You Say Something’s “Likely,” How Likely Is It?

If someone say you’ll “probably” like something, what are the actual ODDS you will? Turns out the answer is about a 70% chance.

Someone gave people a list of terms used to describe how likely things are. Here are a few, and what the average person means when they say them . . .

“Almost certain” = an 80% chance it will happen.

“Likely” = a 67% chance it will happen.

“Possibly” . . . 54%.

“Outside chance” . . . 65% it WON’T happen.

“Probably won’t” . . . 69% it won’t happen.

“Very unlikely” . . . 76% it won’t happen.
