Huey Lewis & The News Roll Out Spring And Summer Dates

Huey Lewis & The News are heading back out on the road, having rolled out their spring and summer itinerary. As it stands now, the band will kick things off on April 20th at Hollywood, Florida’s Hard Rock Event Center and wrap the season up with what will undoubtedly be their biggest show of the year when they play a double bill with Jimmy Buffett at Boston’s legendary Fenway Park.

Back in November, guitarist/saxophonist Johnny Colla posted an update to fans on the band’s Facebook page saying, “I must say that currently we’re working together in the studio better than we have in a long time. I think a big part of that is ‘picking the good ones,’ letting each other do what they do best, and not worrying about all the emotion wrapped up in every idea we bring in. The process is streamlined, and we’ve matured. Oh, and there’s less publishing at stake! – Johnny” No title or release date has been announced for the upcoming set.

  • Huey Lewis has always been known in the rock world as being an “average Joe” who’s never pulled a star trip or found his private life splattered all over the tabloids. He says that nearly four decades after breaking onto the scene, being a working musician is all the attention he needs for his own ego: [“People say that they play rock n’ roll because they want to be rich and famous, or meet girls, or whatever, and it’s really, of course, not the case. You do it for the same reason anybody does anything — they love it. And the object for us was always to be able to, y’know, write songs, record them, and tour. And that’s what it means — it means that some things we wrote, some stuff has, has endured, and that’s flattering.”] SOUNDCUE (21 OC: . . . and that’s flattering)
