5-Year-Old Swallowed 40 Pieces of Gum . . .

Remember when you were a kid and adults told us not to swallow gum . . . because it took SEVEN YEARS to digest it? Well, that’s not really true, your body will pass the gum within two days, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to swallow it. Gum can’t be digested, so it comes out whole, and if you swallow a few pieces, it could cause digestive problems. A five-year-old boy recently swallowed 40 pieces of gum in one day, and it obstructed his GI tract. He was rushed to the ER, and doctors removed it, so he wouldn’t have to wait “seven years” for his digestive system to work.
