Controversy Has Hit This Year’s “Beer Mile” World Championship!

There was controversy at the 2022 Beer Mile Championship in Belgium this weekend. To compete, you run four laps on a track, and before each lap, you have to drink a full beer that’s at least 5% alcohol. The controversy wasn’t caused by a runner . . . it was because they switched from bottles, to cans this year. Bottles are easier to chug because they create less foam, so everyone was slower. A Canadian guy won for the second year in a row, but was much slower this time. Last year, he set a new world record of 4 minutes and 28 seconds, but finished 22 seconds slower this time.  And other runners’ times were worse too.
