After last night’s big game, here are a few interesting facts on Super Bowl 57 . . .

  • Cleveland is the only city with an NFL team that has not gone to the Super Bowl AND not hosted. (the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars have all hosted but not played).
  • The NFL spent TWO YEARS preparing the grass for the field at the Super Bowl (yes, the turf that everyone was slipping on. The grass was grown at a local sod farm in Phoenix. It was installed two weeks ago, and the total cost was $800,000.
  • This year, Mahomes did these 4 things: Won the regular season MVP, won the Super Bowl MVP, led the NFL in passing touchdowns, AND in passing yards. Only Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Kurt Warner have accomplished all 4, and only over their WHOLE CAREER (what Mahomes did this season).
  • If you’re wondering, the color of the Gatorade shower was . . . PURPLE. Some “prop bets” gave purple the second-longest odds of happening (behind only the chance that there’d be NO Gatorade shower).
  • A lot of football fans were caught in the middle, watching the Super Bowl without rooting for either team. If you were LITERALLY and PHYSICALLY halfway between Kansas City and Philadelphia, you’d be in Gettysburg, Ohio. A town of 463 people, just northwest of Dayton. (Yeah, that’s random, but cut me some slack, it isn’t easy coming up with mildly interesting Super Bowl facts!)
