Steve Van Zandt is heading out on to tour in support of TeachRock, “the Rock and Roll Forever Foundation’s national initiative to bring music curriculum into middle and high schools across the country.” BroadwayWorld.com reported the latest string of shows by Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul have been rolled out for the end of April and beginning of May hitting New York City; New Brunswick and Morristown, New Jersey, Ridgefield, Connecticut; and Albany, New York.
In the press release for the gigs, Van Zandt said: “Music will forever be humanity’s most effective and consistent source of inspiration and motivation. We have learned, music turns out to be our most solid common ground for establishing communication between teachers and students which is where education begins.” Additional dates will soon be announced.
- Steve Van Zandt has always felt that rock bonded both musicians and their audience in a way unlike any other form of art: [“A band communicates something different than an individual. To this day, rock n’ roll is all about bands and pop music is all about individuals. Y’know, I’m not makin’ an evaluation on either one; but bands communicate family, friendship — community, y’know? That’s what attracted me.”] SOUNDCUE (:14 OC: . . . what attracted me)
