Goodbye!

AOL Dial Up Is Officially Gone

AOL’s dial-up internet service has officially shut down.

The former trailblazer of online access turned off its dial-up service on Tuesday.

At its peak, AOL had over 20 million users and was involved in a historic merger with Time Warner in 2000.

The decision to shut down the dial-up service was part of a routine evaluation of products and services.

Only a few thousand people in America were still using AOL dial-up internet.

Even though the dial-up service is gone, AOL continues to be active today, with 1.5 million monthly customers paying for technical support and identity theft services.
