Proposal Would Amend Ohio Constitution To Ban Most Data Centers

(ONN) – A group of Ohio residents has submitted a proposal to the state attorney general to prohibit some new data centers.

The proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution would ban new data centers with a peak electricity load of more than 25 megawatts.

That is a threshold which would eliminate many of the facilities being drawn up right now.

One of the petitioners lives in Clermont County, east of Cincinnati.

She tells the Cincinnati Enquirer the group is tired of what they see as corporate silence and too little accountability.

Many business leaders say data centers are good for Ohio’s economy.
