After spending the week filling in on the morning show, I learned something important:

Morning people are suspicious.

Nobody wakes up cheerful at 4:30 unless they’re hiding something.

You ever meet one of those people? They bounce into the room like they just won a prize. They say things like “Good morning!” with eye contact and enthusiasm.

Meanwhile I’m standing there holding a cup of coffee like it’s medical equipment trying to remember my middle name.

And they’ve already exercised.

Who exercises before sunrise?

That’s not fitness. That’s ambition with a flashlight.

Then they ask, “Did you see the sunrise?” No.

I saw my alarm clock. That’s the only glowing object I recognized this week.

If the sun isn’t fully awake yet, neither am I.
