Girl Missing for Over 30 Years Found Alive
An Arizona cold case that went unsolved for decades has finally been answered.
Christina Marie Plante, who disappeared in 1994 at just 13 years old, has been located alive more than 30 years later.
She was last seen leaving her home to walk to a nearby stable where her horse was kept. Investigators at the time described the circumstances surrounding her disappearance as endangered and suspicious, and the case remained unresolved for decades.
Recently, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit reopened the investigation using newer forensic tools and modern review techniques. After making a fresh public appeal for information, investigators were able to generate the breakthrough that ultimately led to locating Plante.
Officials have now confirmed her identity and formally resolved her missing-person status after 32 years.
Law enforcement says the case highlights how advances in technology — along with renewed cold-case efforts — are helping bring long-awaited answers to families and communities.
It’s a reminder that even after decades, some mysteries can still be solved.
