Village Council Member Facing More Charges

(WTOL-11) – A village council member in Carey and one-time candidate for mayor has been indicted in Wood County on multiple counts of raping at least two minors.

According to Wood County court documents, Evaristo Hernandez was indicted on thirteen charges of first-degree felony rape.

Five of the charges allege the rape of a child when the victim was between 11 and 12 years old.

The other eight charges allege the rape by force or threat of force of a different child while the victim was between the ages of 13 and 15.

Hernandez was previously indicted last year on six other first-degree felony rape charges in two separate cases.

The trial for those cases is scheduled for July of this year.
