Meta Sued Over Scam Ads on Facebook and Instagram

A major consumer watchdog group just slapped tech giant Meta with a massive new lawsuit.

The Consumer Federation of America accuses the parent company of Facebook and Instagram of actively profiting from scam advertisements.

These social media platforms reportedly expose users to 15 billion high-risk scam ads every single day.

Meta allegedly expected to make 16 billion dollars in a single year from ads pushing scams and banned goods.

An attorney for the consumer group blasted the tech giant and said, “Meta told its users it was fighting fraud. Internally, it was charging scammers a premium for access to those same users.”

A spokesperson for Meta firmly denied the allegations and claimed the lawsuit completely misrepresents the reality of their work.

The advocacy group is now seeking financial damages and a permanent court order to stop the deceptive business practices.
