Carey Schools Improving Football Complex, Other Facilities

(From Carey Exempted Village Schools)

First, we would like to thank all those who have told us how excited they are to see the long needed improvements at the football complex. These improvements are the result of many conversations and studies with various groups and committees. The Board of Education’s commitment to providing a quality and safe surface for our athletes is just one way of always putting students first. They have invested not only in the football playing surface, but also in updating our varsity gymnasium (see photo attached), creating a new classroom space for our elementary students, updating our bus fleet for safe transportation, including adding a new bus and route for our students with special needs. The Board also invests in the staff, providing professional development and teacher training opportunities to encourage our staff to remain at the lead in the latest educational trends. The Carey school community can be proud of the investments made to ensure our students and community are served in the best manner possible.

In a recent online post, the comment was made that there is a lot about the football field turf project that the community doesn’t know. Please know that all the information about the project is available to anyone who would like to see it. We have shared any and all information with the various groups we have met with, the many sponsors of the project, with the media and at Board of Education meetings. All costs, expected savings, and the reasons for the project have all been laid out and discussed with many people. There is nothing to hide at all. If you would like to know anything about the project, please feel free to contact the school and ask for the information. We would be happy to discuss the project with you.

We are also offering the opportunity for anyone who would like to donate to the project. While we know we will be saving approximately $35,000 per year on costs to maintain a grass field, we are also looking for individuals or businesses to help sponsor the stadium project. We plan on having a monument of some sort located toward the north end of the field to commemorate those who are interested in donating toward the project. The Blue Devil Touchdown Drive information is attached to this post.
