Red Cross Celebrates Volunteers At Annual Recognition Dinner

The American Red Cross of North Central Ohio recognized volunteers for their work and elected new members and officers to the Chapter’s Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner and held at the Sandusky Yacht Club on June 3.
Mark Spaetzel, the Mayor of Avon Lake, was elected to the volunteer Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning on July 1. Chris Lewis of Seneca County was elected as the new Board Secretary.
The Chapter recognized volunteers for their outstanding service to the Red Cross with several awards. The Red Cross Volunteer Humanitarian Award was presented to a group of volunteers, the Findlay VA Clinic Coffee Cart team. Volunteer Leadership Awards were presented to Paul Hiszem of Norwalk and Lisa Mize of Huron. Volunteer Spirit of Excellence Awards were presented to Singh Bhagarath of Tiffin, Joanne Gilmore of Upper Sandusky and Dave Martaus of Findlay.
Several volunteers were recognized for giving over 1,000 hours of service to the Red Cross in their time as volunteers. Special 1,000 Hour pins were presented to:

- Lisa Mize of Huron
- Elizabeth Newman of Sandusky
- Chris Raftery or Monroeville
- Cas Robertson or North Ridgeville
- Linda Taylor of North Ridgeville
The final award of the evening was the Executive Director’s Challenge Coin, presented by Chapter Executive Todd James. James presented the coins to Linda Taylor, Bill Andrews and Bobby Andrews for their outstanding work in support of Red Cross programs, services and volunteers.
