Opponents Of Shady Grove Redevelopment Want Issue Put To Public Vote

People opposed to the redevelopment of the Shady Grove Golf Course property are circulating petitions in an attempt to put the issue to a referendum vote.

On June 2, Findlay City Council approved ordinances for the annexation and multi-family zoning of the Shady Grove property, which is on the south side of US 224 and the southwest corner of the intersection with Township Road 237, just east of Findlay.

The annexation was initiated by the property owner in February when they applied for annexation into the City of Findlay from Marion Township.

WFIN’s Chris Oaks spoke with former Findlay Councilwoman Holly Frische about the effort to put the issue to a public vote.

A developer has plans to build apartments on the property in two phases. (pictured below)

Phase 1 would have 222 units and has a targeted construction timeline of October 2026-October 2028.

Phase 2 would have 258 units with a targeted construction timeline of October 2029-October 2031.
