The Best Rock Songs about Summer
Ultimate Classic Rock did the legwork, and posted the 40 Best Summer Songs Of Rock. And like every list that claims to have the best “blank” number of whatever, there were songs that I don’t really consider to be ROCK (“Vacation” by The Go-Go’s, “California Girls” by The Beach Boys, and “Summer Breeze” by Seals & Crofts). Most of the songs did meet my “rock criteria”, here are a few:
“School’s Out“, Alice Cooper (1972)
“Summer of ’69” from Bryan Adams (1985)
“Dancing Days,” Led Zeppelin (1973)
“The Boys of Summer” Don Henley (1984)
“Summertime Girls,” Y&T (1985)
“Blue Sky,” The Allman Brothers Band (or “Mr. Blue Sky” from E.L.O.)
“Beautiful Girls” and “Summer Nights” Van Halen (1979)
And one of the all-time RAWK “Summer songs”, recorded by bands from The Who, to Rush . . . “Summertime Blues” (of course originally done by Eddie Cochran). You can check out the entire list HERE.
