Happy N.F.D.!
If you (accidentally) pass gas today, you have an excuse. According to the interweb, today is National Fart Day (I say “the interweb says” to clarify that it wasn’t on my personal calendar) (???). This isn’t a new thing, it’s been a “holiday” for 16 years now (although it’s still not a federal holiday). So, it’s mostly just for fun, but here are a few things to remind people that passing gas is NORMAL . . .
- Most humans produce between one to four pints of gas daily.
- And on average, pass wind around 15 to 20 times per day.
- Most gas is made up of ODORLESS vapors, but the “good bacteria” in your digestive system can release gases that contain sulfur, and that produces an unpleasant odor of flatulence.
- Men produce more “aromatic flatus” than women.
- And in a poll a while back, Farts were found to be the FIFTH most irritating sound. Behind nails on a chalkboard, chewing with your mouth open, smacking your gum, and talking loudly.
