Equal Pay Day Shows Continued Wage Gap Between Men and Women
Today (March 12th) is Equal Pay Day.
The date symbolizes how many days women needed to work into the current year to earn the same amount it took a man to earn the same wage during the last year. So, women needed to work two extra months and 12 days to match the salary.
According to the National Committee on Pay Equity, a woman in the United States makes 84 cents for every dollar a man earns.
For part-time and seasonal workers, the gap is worse, with women only earning 74 cents per dollar a man makes.

According to the numbers, female financial managers women earn 71% of every dollar a man earns, retail salespersons only 72%, education and child care administrators fall short at 79%, administrative assistants pull in 80%, and managers only 81%.
