AT&T Reportedly Paid Hacker $370,000 To Delete Stolen Data
While AT&T has revealed that millions of customers texts and phone records were leaked in a 2022 data breach, it’s now being reported that the company paid one hacker $370,000 to delete stolen data.
‘Wired’ says AT&T used an intermediary named Reddington to negotiate with a member of the Shiny Hunters hacking group to delete the hacked data, talking the hacker down from $1 million.
Reddington, says he’s negotiated with several other companies for the hackers, too.
