Federal Trade Commission Makes It Easier To Cancel Subscriptions
- On Wednesday, the Federal Trade Commission announced steps to make it easier to cancel digital subscriptions.
- The FTC plans to implement a “final click to cancel rule,” which will make it “as easy for consumers to cancel their enrollment as it was to sign up.”
- FTC Chair Lina Khan said in a statement, “Too often, businesses make people jump through endless hoops just to cancel a subscription. The FTC’s rule will end these tricks and traps, saving Americans time and money. Nobody should be stuck paying for a service they no longer want.”
- The rule is expected to go into effect in the next six months.
