PETA To Protest Nosferatu For Promoting “Shameful Stereotypes” Of Rats

PETA plans to protest the use of live rats in Robert Eggers’ upcoming adaptation of Nosferatu, criticizing the film for perpetuating harmful stereotypes. PETA emphasizes that rats are intelligent and social creatures and should be respected, highlighting the animals’ positive attributes compared to cats or dogs. The protest at the Beverley Hills theater will feature a “giant rat” with a sign advocating for rat rights, despite Eggers’ assurance that the live rats were carefully managed during production. Scheduled to debut on December 25th, 2024, the film is a modern take on the 1922 silent horror classic, starring a notable cast including Bill Skarsgård and Willem Dafoe. (COS)
