It’s Called “Better Judgment” . . . USE IT!
Great teachers find new and creative ways to help kids learn . . . and sometimes really bad teachers do it too. A high school in Albuquerque is dealing with a lawsuit, after a chemistry teacher thought having actual SWORD FIGHTS was a good idea. The teacher was doing a lesson on “metal and melding”, and brought ACTUAL swords to class. She had students rearrange their desks into a fighting ring, started a timer, and had kids battle it out for two minutes each (???). Predictably, things got out of hand (so to speak), and a 16-year-old girl ended up with a SERIOUS gash on her right wrist. It severed multiple nerves and tendons, and she had to have surgery. According to the lawsuit, the teacher yelled “I’m in trouble!”, and told everyone to delete footage from their phones. She was fired two months later.
