One Of These Is NOT Like The Other . . .

A recent study analyzed the lyrics of top Billboard artists and iconic musicians, to find out which artists have the highest “lexical diversity” in their lyrics. Of course I had NO idea what “LEXICAL DIVERSITY” actually means, so here is the definition . . . “Lexical Diversity” is “the variety of unique words”, and in THIS case, that would be the “unique words” used in a band’s lyrics. Here are the Top 5 artists whose lyrics have the most “Lexical Diversity”. . .

#5) Bruce Springsteen:  46%

#4) Laufey:  48%

#3) Slayer:  51%

And there is a two-way tie for the top spot . . .

#1) Black Sabbath AND Pink Floyd

A few others making the list . . .

Megadeth (at #7), Iron Maiden (at #12), and Toby Keith: 43%

Metal is the most intelligent genre because of its lyric diversity, followed by rock and country.
