Wheel Falls Off Delta Flight During Taxi
A Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to Bogota, Colombia, lost one of its wheels during takeoff last Saturday.
As the Boeing 757 taxied down the runway, the nose wheel became detached.
A pilot from another plane radioed to the Delta flight, “One of your nose tires just came off; it just rolled off the runway behind you.”
The plane didn’t leave the ground, and the passengers and crew were evacuated and placed on another aircraft. The airplane that lost a tire was repaired and put back into service the next day.
This is the latest incident for Boeing in the last few weeks. The manufacturer built the Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 jet that lost its door plug mid-flight, causing a hole in the plane and forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing.
