Dollar Tree Sold Lead-Infused Applesauce Pouches For Weeks After Recall, FDA Says
The FDA says Dollar Tree kept selling lead-infused applesauce pouches for nearly two months after they had been recalled.
The pouches have been linked to the illnesses of more than 500 children across 44 states who were found to have elevated blood lead levels.
The agency sent a warning letter to Dollar Tree and the Ecuadorian distributor of the pouches telling the companies to get the issue handled. Dollar Tree replied that it’s “bolstering” steps to remove the pouches across its 16,000 stores.
