Has a myth about light drinking been busted?
Experts Say Moderate Drinking Is Not Better For Your Health
A glass of wine after work might not bring the health benefits you thought.
According to new analysis, moderate drinking is not better than abstaining.
Canadian scientists reviewed 107 studies to determine whether previous research about moderate drinking being healthy was true. The numbers didn’t add up.
One researcher said, “It’s been a propaganda coup for the alcohol industry to propose that moderate use of their product lengthens people’s lives.”
He continued, “The idea has impacted national drinking guidelines, estimates of alcohol’s burden of disease worldwide and has been an impediment to effective policymaking on alcohol and public health.”
