Memorial Day weekend is quickly approaching, and more Americans are expected to travel by car and air than ever before. 

According to AAA, 43.8 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home over the holiday weekend. 

The number is a four percent increase from last year.

The amount of people taking a car trip on Memorial Day weekend could break the record of 44 million set in 2005.

AAA also expects 3.5 million travelers to fly over the holiday. A record 3.6 million people flew during Memorial Day in 2005.
