Merriam-Webster Adds 690 Words To Dictionary
Last week, Merriam-Webster announced that 690 words had been added to its dictionary.
Let’s go through some of the terms that are now “grammar-official.”
- GOATED – considered to be the greatest of all time.
- rizz – having romantic appeal or charm.
- thirst trap – desperately seeking attention.
- grammable – suitable to be posted on Instagram.
- beast mode – an extremely aggressive or energetic style or manner that someone — such as an athlete — adopts temporarily, as to overpower an opponent in a fight or competition.
- chef’s kiss – a gesture of satisfaction or approval made by kissing the fingertips of one hand and then spreading the fingers with an outward motion.
- padawan – a word borrowed from the Star Wars universe to describe a younger, inexperienced person.
- bussin’ – extremely good.
- mid – mediocre.
- rage quit – the action of abruptly quitting an activity out of anger.
