Cold-related deaths have risen over the last three decades. 

A study from Harvard Medical School found the mortality rate due to cold exposure has doubled since the 1990s. 

Certain factors have led to the jump, including climate change, homelessness, and social isolation.

Cold weather deaths are more likely than deaths from heat. A 2021 study showed that freezing temperatures were responsible for three-fourths of extreme weather deaths.
