New Study Suggests Cat Owners Love Their Cats More Than Their Partners
_ In an often turbulent and hostile world, many Americans are getting through by focusing on what counts: watching cat videos online. A survey found that the average cat owner “likes” 398 cat-related posts and looks at 725 cat pictures and videos in a year.
More than just interacting with cat-themed internet posts, the average cat owner also has 13 cat-related items. This includes 44 percent who have a framed photo of their cat, 43 percent who own a cat stuffed animal, and 38 percent of owners who own a cat calendar.
Imagine you’ve had a long, stressful day. Whether you spent it putting out fires at work or chasing a stubbornly independent two-year-old from one mess to another, you can’t wait until the house is quiet, and you have a second to relax.
Now, who do you imagine relaxing with? A significant other? Or is it your cat?
If the first friendly face you thought of was your cat’s, you’re not alone. A survey among pet owners recently revealed that many people with pets love their cats more than their partners.
