‘Huff Post’ talked to several food safety experts and found the most common mistakes home cooks are making. They include:
Neglecting to wash their hands
Mishandling cutting boards. Remember to never shop your vegetables on a board that just had raw chicken on it!
Using the same utensils for raw and cooked meat
Washing raw chicken, which spreads bacteria and pathogens to your sink and beyond.
Thawing meat on the counter. Thaw it in the fridge or in cold water to prevent bacteria growth.
Not using a meat thermometer
Cooking raw food in the microwave
Putting warm food in the fridge to cool
