The antibiotic for strep is in short supply.
Strep Throat on The Rise
Children’s doctors across the country say strep throat is on the rise as the antibiotic to address it is in short supply.
Pennsylvania and Delaware have seen a 300% to 400% increase in strep cases from last year. Florida’s cases have doubled.
The increase has been seen most in kids ages 4 to 12. Sore throat, extreme fatigue, and a fever that may spike up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit are common strep throat symptoms.
The FDA says the antibiotic to knock out strep, amoxicillin, has been in short supply in the last year.
