New Federal Rules Bans Hidden ‘Junk Fees’ On Tickets and Hotels
On Tuesday, the Federal Trade Commission announced a new rule banning “junk fees” on hotel stays and live event tickets.
The new rules make it illegal for vendors to hide prices until the checkout process.
The rule says the total price needs to be presented “timely, transparent, and truthful.”
In a statement, FTC Chairperson Lina Khan said, “The FTC’s rule will put an end to junk fees around live event tickets, hotels, and vacation rentals, saving Americans billions of dollars and millions of hours in wasted time.”
