The Post Office is helping you prepare for Christmas shipping
United States Post Office Announces Christmas Shipping Deadlines
It’s (almost) the most wonderful time of the year — and the United States Postal Service is making sure everyone is well-prepped for gift shipping this holiday season.
They just revealed deadlines for shipping your Christmas gifts on time.
Dec. 25th falls on a Wednesday which means at least one extra off day is built into the schedule. USPS offices are closed on Sundays, although mail does get processed.
The last chance to ship a package via USPS and have it arrive on time is Dec. 18, with one or two exceptions. That gives the post office a full week to get your gift to its destination.
Meanwhile, Priority Mail service should be completed by Dec. 19, and Priority Mail Express service must be done by Dec. 21.
“USPS urges customers to plan ahead and ship early during this holiday season. The earlier you send, the better; don’t delay — mail and ship today!” USPS said in a statement.
