A new “Monopoly” movie is in the works with Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap production company.

The upcoming movie based on the classic board game, will be distributed by Lionsgate and also produced by Hasbro Entertainment.

“Monopoly is a top property — pun fully intended,” Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap said in a statement. “Like all of the best IP, this game has resonated worldwide for generations, and we are so excited to bring this game to life alongside the wonderful teams involved at Lionsgate and Hasbro.”

In a statement about the new film, Lionsgate expressed their confidence in LuckyChap’s “clear point of view” on the Monopoly IP and excitement about the possibility of the game becoming another blockbuster for the production outfit.

If you didn’t know, Barbie was LuckyChap’s most recent release. It earned more than $1.4 million at the global box office, earning its place as the top-grossing movie of 2023.

Aside from a Monopoly movie, LuckyChap is also teaming up with Vertigo Entertainment to release a film adaptation of The Sims. According to THR and Variety, The Sims movie is still in its early stages of development.
