What shouldn’t we be picking up at the store?
Food Safety Experts Say ‘Stay Away’ From These Foods at the Grocery Store
There are some items that food safety experts walk past while grocery shopping.
HuffPost spoke to the specialists to find out which foods are most likely to give consumers a bad bug.
Unpasteurized Raw Milk could cause issues with salmonella, E. coli, listeria, and brucella. Some states won’t sell the drink because of safety issues.
Raw sprouts like radish, alfalfa, and clover can also contain E. Coli bacteria if not washed thoroughly.
Pre-cut produce could be a problem. One food safety expert said to be very careful with pre-cut melons because the fruit is more susceptible to contamination.
What about the Hot Bar at the store? The place where you can get fried chicken, pizza, and other items should be okay unless its heating system looks terrible. Do some due diligence. If the food isn’t being kept warm, then stay away.
By the way, according to experts, the best time to go to the hot bar is during lunch and dinner when food is turned over more often.
