Deloitte Center for Financial Services says generative AI scams will cause $40 billion in losses by 2027.

The most significant type of AI fraud is expected to be emails sent using deepfakes of corporate bosses in an attempt to convince employees to share sensitive info or transfer business funds.  53% of accounting officials have already been targeted by AI deepfakes this year.
Another growing AI scam will be the use of autonomous chatbots to create love scams. These scams involve convincing the lonely that they’re in love with a “real person” and taking their money.
AI deepfake extortion scams are already on the rise, using your image and or voice to create a deepfake of you in a compromising video.  Crooks hope you’ll pay up to make the AI-generated video “go away.”
