Why will 2026 vehicles be different?
US Auto Safety Ratings To Get Major Update
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will add four new technologies to its five-star rating for vehicle crash tests.
Starting with 2026 models, cars will also be rated on pedestrian automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot warning, and blind spot intervention.
The NHTSA says these additions will provide greater safety for those both inside and outside of vehicles.
