State Senate Contest Between Riedel And Hoops A Close One
Two candidates were running for the Republican nomination in the race for Ohio Senate District 1 in the Primary Election on Tuesday.
The candidates were Jim Hoops and Craig Riedel.
Hoops is currently the District 81 State Representative.
There were no Democrats on the Primary ballot running for Ohio Senate District 1.
Unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State’s website show Riedel winning a very close race, receiving 50.98 percent of the vote to Hoops’ 49.02 percent.
Riedel received 22,165 votes while Hoops got 21,309.
Riedel will take over the seat held by Ohio Senate President Rob McColley, who was selected by gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to be his Lt. Governor should Ramaswamy win in November.
All election results are unofficial until certified by the board of elections.
