Today’s Heartburn came from listener Annette, and if you’ve ever sat at a railroad crossing, you probably feel this one…

You pull up to the tracks…
Lights flashing.
Arms down.

So you wait.

Five minutes… ten minutes… fifteen minutes…

Finally the end of the train comes into view and you can see the crossing again.

Two cars left…

…and the train stops.

Now you’re sitting there staring at those last two train cars like they personally betrayed you.

At that point nobody turns around either… because we’ve all invested too much time to quit now.
