$6.72 a gallon?!
Gas prices are climbing again — but one county in the U.S. is seeing numbers that feel almost unreal.
In Mono County, California, drivers are now paying as much as $6.72 per gallon, making it one of the most expensive places in the country to fill up.
The national average currently sits around $4.14 per gallon, but global tensions involving Iran have pushed crude oil prices above $115 per barrel, driving fuel costs higher nationwide.
Even with those increases, the situation in the U.S. isn’t as severe as in some parts of the world. The Philippines recently declared a national fuel emergency due to shortages tied to the same global pressure on oil supply.
For now, Mono County holds the record — but if oil keeps climbing, other areas may not be far behind.
