A company once valued at $6 billion has gone bankrupt.

23andMe Files for Bankruptcy

DNA testing company 23andMe has filed for bankruptcy.

Co-founder and CEO, Anne Wojcicki, has stepped down in an attempt to make an independent bid the firm.

Once worth $6 billion, 23andMe would later settle a $30 million lawsuit that alleged the company failed to protect the data of 7 million users.

The company is now worth around $50 million.

23andMe reps say their site will continue to operate through the bankruptcy and all transitions.
