A new option for those struggling with depression.
FDA Approves Nasal Spray for Depression
The FDA has approved a nasal spray to treat major depressive disorder, which gives those suffering from treatment-resistant depression a new option.

22% of those who tested the Spravato nasal spray, which is made from the drug esketamine, reported improvements in mood in a study.
The manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson, claims patients can see mood improvement in as little as 24 hours.
There is a risk of abusing the nasal spray, though, so it will be prescribed under restricted programs through certified treatment centers.
A Gallup poll found that 23% of American adults have been diagnosed with depression.
