Do teens lack manners when it comes to the phone?

Study: Teens No Longer Answer The Phone

Lorraine University’s research finds that teenagers are changing communication and etiquette rules with their smartphones.
Fewer teens answer their smartphones these days, a trait that previous generations may have seen as “rude”.  They’re not ignoring those rings due to bad behavior, though, but rather to maintain control of their time, social interactions and even emotions.
Teens prefer texting and using voice notes, with researchers noting this new form of “digital etiquette” allows those 13-18 to communicate thoughtfully and with more controlled emotion than when conversating over the phone.
So the next time your teen doesn’t pick up, they’re probably not trying to be rude, but rather maintain some control in this hyper-connected world.  Try dropping a text to check in.
