Meta will use AI to make sure teen accounts on Instagram will remain restricted, keeping them private, preventing them from getting direct messages and blocking some content.

Meta will use the AI to detect underage Instagram accounts using an adult birthday.  If the tech verifies that the account belongs to a child, Meta will automatically default the account to the restrictive teen settings.

The company knows their AI isn’t perfect.  If it incorrectly changes an account, users will be able to change their settings.
