A booked checked out from the San Antonio Public Library in 1943 has finally been returned 82 years later.

‘Your Child, His Family, and Friends by Frances Bruce Strain’ made its way back to the library from Oregon with a note explaining its journey.

A woman checked the book out for her 11-year-old son.  Her family ended up moving to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City shortly after, taking the book with them.

The book was discovered after the family was going through their father’s belongings after his recent passing.  

It was then sent back to the library 33,000 days later with the note adding, “I hope there is no late fee for it because Grandma won’t be able to pay for it anymore.”
