Is this the wave of the future?

Air Taxis Take Off In New York

A futuristic change is coming to the New York City commute. An all-electric air taxi just completed its first successful test flight from Manhattan to JFK Airport.

Aviation firm Joby flew the battery-powered aircraft. The unique vehicle resembles a giant drone. It takes off vertically just like a standard helicopter.

The new air taxi carries up to five people. It runs completely on electricity. The aircraft also produces zero operating emissions.

The company wants to transform city travel completely. These quick flights will replace a grueling two-hour car ride with a simple ten-minute trip.

The aircraft is incredibly quiet. According to CEO JoeBen Bevirt, the vehicle makes “100 times less noise than a traditional helicopter.”

Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole praised the recent test runs. He said, “These flights advance our work to determine how next-generation aviation technology can serve the people of New York and New Jersey.”
